Babies, babies, babies

and no, I'm not pregnant. But we live in "nappy (diaper) valley" which has the most children per capita in all of Europe. The majority of the families seem to have three kids. I was at my first "coffee" for Mia's class on Friday and of the ten women there:
3 (including me) had only two kids
5 had three kids
2 were pregnant with their third kid

So, having said that, you can imagine that we see lots of babies and buggies or prams around our part of town. Mia has always been keen on babies, and very keen on me having another (some of you may remember the fabulous Costco story) but our "exposure" has taken it up another notch or five. She checks out every baby or carrier or pram or buggy that we see. Head cranked around, stopped in the middle of foot traffic. She is busy picking out baby outfits and a new buggies for our family "when the baby comes." Repeat: I am not pregnant! Her first choice is the "double decker" buggie, which is new to the states (my friend Deb in SLC is the only one I know who had it), although she has picked out another one that is only for one kid that "I can sit in when you're holding the baby in the sling." We constantly have to remind her that we don't know if we are going to have another baby, to no avail.

At least half of the words (maybe more like 75%?) that come out of her mouth are baby-related. I decided to jot a few of her comments from over the weekend are here they are:
- babies don't scooter
- the baby can sit on my lap
- babies have to be held or they lay down, they can't stand by themselves
- maybe in the summer we can have a baby
- why do babies cry?
- babies can't play with small things
- I want a baby brother, Chloe wants a baby sister
- the baby can have the sippy cup
- the shirt is too small, I'll keep it for the baby
- babies can't take out the recycling - they might get cut - daddy will have to hold the baby
and a zillion sentences that start:
babies can't ....(fill in)
if we have a baby...
and when we have a baby...
It's really quite wild. Talk about pressure!

I think Mia can read her mother's mind. My prediction is for an Elias baby next year. Joy, joy, joy!

That is too cute of Mia! It sounds like you may need to have another one! And I agree, I would love to see some pictures. Hope all is well...
