Side notes

Just a quick couple of comments/additions regarding my two recent posts. Some are in response to your emailed questions.
** It costs £3200 ($6400) to hire an independent midwife (kind of the opposite of the US where it's cheaper than a hospital birth). This include prenatal care, labor/birth, and daily postpartum visits.
** British midwifes have more experience (and therefore better training). My midwife has attended approx 400 births in the last 10 years.
** No, I don't know any woman here who have had a home birth. One tried but got transferred due to meconnium (spelling?) in fluid. Plenty of others have said they wished that had had a home birth with their most recent child. Others say no way, because of no epidural.

** Sari is spelled Saree here.

That's all folks.
