We seem to have be on a bit of an Indian kick lately. I think this was started by Eugene's best friend Markus when left for India (or the Himalayas) in January (and is still there), and now spurned on with Kaitlyn over there. Plus, London being diverse you see plenty of folks in traditional clothing around.
So on, last Saturday we visited a road just about 7 minutes from our house that basically transports you to another country - which country I'm not sure - as it's a blend of southern India, Sri Lanka and Muslim countries. As a white, non Muslim, non saree wearing woman I was a serious minority.
We went there because the girls had both earned the required house points in order to earn a Saree. Yes, and Indian Saree. That's what they wanted to redeem their earned points for. No photo of them in it yet, but will soon.
After we got their Saree, we ate at a phenomenal restaurant - colorfully decorated with murals and lit up with xmas lights. There was a statue of someone important in the corner. The food was unreal. I guess southern India is know for a certain cuisine and this had it. I have no idea what all we ate - dosas with four different sauces, spicy this, coconut milk that, so good. My food interests are TG not as bland this pregnancy stage so I enjoyed it all. We will go again with Euge's parents and nephew in the next weeks.
I swear after, Chloe was bouncing around as if she was on a spice high. Lots of funky flavors and spices we haven't had before.

Oooh so jealous! Ecuadorian food is so bland bland bland. Beans and rice and fried meat. A fried banana is about as exciting as it seems to get. I was talking to a co-worker at lunch today about Indian food and she mentioned that she walks by an Indian restaurant on the way to the office, but there are no delicious smells emanating, so it can´t possibly be authentic.
The girls in a sari! Do put up a picture. I felt like a bright orange traffic cone when I tried on a friend´s sari.
love,
rebecca
I know little about Indian food and spices but always enjoy it. It is hard to find good Indian food in our area (best I've ever had was in Glasgow). And I love sari fabrics - they are so beautiful! I bet the girls are adorable.
