That's a positive.

Yes, my sneaky hints are true. I'm pregnant. For real. Really real. I'm 12.5 weeks now. The little one is due 11th November (with my track record add 10-12 days).

Oh, and the fabulous thing about a third pregnancy seems to be that your body says "oh here we go again" and poof - a tummy. None of my clothes fit almost immediately. Actually the day I figured out I should take another pregnancy test (had already taken three tests that week that were negative) I hadn't been able to button my jeans bc I was so "bloated" and was wearing sweats (well and I also couldn't catch my breath and I was so tired I thought I was getting the flu). So, this time I entered the world of maternity clothes at record speed.

The early weeks/months were just as bad as I remembered them. I was so nauseous and tired and this time I even had some gags that sent me running to the toilet thinking I was about to be sick. Thankfully, that didn't happen. The bulk of this time was while the kids had off school for FOUR weeks, so that was "challenging." This pregnancy was different in that I felt better in the late afternoon and evening (of course I went to bed by 8pm with the girls). With the other two, I just felt sick off and on all day. The other most FABULOUS difference this time around was that my nausea ended around 10 weeks instead of the 12-13 weeks that I had with both girls. Does it mean a boy or just a wonderful break?

The best part of it so far (and in a way the scariest) was telling the girls last weekend. They couldn't believe it at first - they just kept asking "for real?" Then I was pretty much a rock star celebrity all weekend. They wanted to walk holding my hands and always sit next to me at meals (we would be three on one side with poor daddy on the other, by himself). Chloe put herself in charge of monitoring whether I was eating and drinking acceptable items. I got a few things taken away (sun chips - but I like the SALT) and then some cheese. Had to explain that even though daddy gets in trouble with mommy for eating too much cheese, it's OK for mommy and the baby to have some! The cutest was they both kept putting their faces to my belly button and yelling "helloooo" and "we love you baby." Very sweet.

I have my first ultrasound next Thursday - I'm mostly interested in just confirming that there is ONE fetus. More on the British way of pregnancy and birth options and practices in another post.

Wow! What wonderful news! So happy for you and your family. I can't wait to hear about birthing in the UK...I understand it's much more progressive than in the States. We will be moving back to PA this summer, and the one thing I will regreet about leaving Indy is that I know I'll not likely have such a good birth experience next time (whenever that is...) Not too many midwives around Clarion, PA :(, so I don't expect a lot of natural childbirth-friendly OBs or hospitals.

A comment not to Vanessa but to Lara - my Bradley instructor who became a certified midwife recently moved to PA. If you'd like, I can track her down and pass her info on to you. She's wonderful!!!
