We just spent a wonderful long weekend with my cousin Catherine's family in Germany. We had last been there two years ago, laden with 8 hours of jet lag and a dairy-overloaded Chloe. To say the very least, this visit was much better! We fully enjoyed our time with Catherine and her husband Michael and their three sweet children Cedric (13) Julie (11) and Marie (5). The girls had a blast with them and loved getting to be outside and active the whole weekend (and just to be free and be children for goodness sake). They even got to go for a long bike ride by farm fields and to their fourth playground of the weekend. Chloe described the bike ride as so peaceful and quiet that you could even her the wind in her bike tires. Oh, and the weather was heaven (
ie warm, sun, no rain).
We had an added bonus of getting to see my parents for the day on Saturday. They had been in Germany for a sad, but expected funeral for my great Uncle
Timm (who was kind of like my German grandfather). We hadn't seem my parents since we were in Germany for Christmas, so it was a treat.
Here are some photos of us doing our top three favorite things in Germany.
1) Connect with family
2) Eat
3) Drink good beer

Having dinner in their backyard. My cousin Catherine grew up in France so visiting them is a special culinary combination of German and French cooking. Wonderful.

Wurst and Bier at a Fest.

Could add about 20 more photos, but will spare you all!

Shots from Eugene's Birthday Dinner! Cousins all had fun going to get an ice cream by themselves while adults finished dinner. Very exciting for them, bit new for this mom and dad.

Marie and Mia with my mom. Marie really took to my mom - it was so cute - Marie thought she talked and laughed like her Grandma (my mom's older sister).

Eugene's Birthday - went into Frankfurt and then had a big Strawberry Cream Cake to celebrate!
