Hello to all - wishing you a happy valentine's day. My mother in law Gail is kindly making dinner for our evening and Eugene PROMISES that he will be home at 7pm. Wish him luck - we've not seen him before 8:45 for the last two weeks....and his mother flew all this way. We (Gail, Chloe, Mia and I) have been very busy this week -
Hyde Park, Kensington Palace, Princess Diana's memorial playground (with the fabulous enormous wooden pirate ship - peter pan theme going on) and some delicious chinese food on Monday.
Sloane Square and Harrods on Tuesday (and thank my lucky stars - a new cleaner and also a baby sitter started)
Then yesterday we did the British Museum - what an amazing place - but sadly could not get tickets for the terracotta soldiers exhibit. Looks facinating and amazing - will try to get some before the exhibit ends in april. Gail did a tour and the girls and I explored all over - saw Egyptian mummies including Cleopatra (17yrs old when she died) - they are unreal - thousands and thousands of years old and preserved - they have even done CAT scans on the mummies. And thank goodness Chloe didn't get freeked out. Plus went to the mesopotamia section where we were looking at things (gold crowns and jewerly) that were from 3000 BC!!!! Blows my mind - never mind trying to communicate that to them. I just love watching Chloe absorb it all.
Then we had lunch at the museum and then went onto St Paul's Cathedral - beautiful. Where Princess Diana got married. Very interesting - had a mini tour (until the girls didn't last anymore). We figured the girls (and us too) did close to EIGHT HOURS of walking. Well done. All slept well.
Today I had our new babysitter so Gail and I could do some shops on our own which was fun (and so much easier!). I ended up buying some new English hand painted and hand done mugs and bowls (so far). A V-Day present for Euge and I.
