Back to Life as Usual

Well, our busy week has wrapped up - girls went back to school today and Gail left this morning for Florida. Went fast, but we did a lot. Friday night Gail and I (Euge was working of course) went to the West End and we saw Monty Python's Spamalot and it was hilarious! It's a musical based on the movie of the Holy Grail. Highly recommend and it's possible that you should sit in seat D-1 as you might get on stage.

Saturday we all took the train to Brighton, which is a town on the sea. It's less than an hour away so was easy to get to and small as well so we were able to walk everywhere, cold as it was. It's very artsy with small lanes of very random and unique shops, with also a selection on high end chains. There is also an enormous Taj Mahal looking palace that apparently some crazy Prince had built after a visit to India. Beautiful architecture but completely out of place. We didn't do the tour bc too hard with the girls who were anxious to see the "beach." It's in quotes on purpose bc although folks were lying on it, it was all made of rocks and it just sort of dropped off into the water. It was a bit wild in that Brighton is on the south coast so the next body of land that we would get to if we went straight into the water would be Africa (or is it Portugal & Spain?)! I'm just too lazy to go up to the playroom, where the globe is, two flights up.

It also feels like you've stepped back in time to the 40s-50s-60s, or to at least another socio-economic crowd, in that there is a huge Pier with rides, gambling, fried food, cotton candy, arcade, etc, etc. Gail felt that the sea gulls cries were haunting and announced that she'd never be back to Brighton. It was an experience.
