First Day of School

The girls started school on September 4th. Four-year-old Mia is now in big girl school, and after a two week 1/2 day only intro, she is now going all day like Chloe from 8:45-3:30. She started all day a full two years earlier than Chloe did/the US way of age 6/first grade. They are both loving it. Tired, but loving it - Mia was so proud to have her first homework assignment last night (practicing the formation of the letter 'm'). Their school uses the jolly phonics scheme, which they seem to love. They say a rhyme as they write the letter - for the letter M it's a girl (straight line) with two mountains to her right. So they say "maisy, mountain, mountain, mmmm" as they write the letter. So they don't use the name of the letter (montessori way too i think) just the sound so when you ask a kid how they spell their name, they give you the sounds and not the letters. You'd be surprised how hard it is to figure out what they've spelled!
Anyway, here are some first day of school shots. Daddy even managed to come! And that was three weeks ago, so I was 30 weeks prego (yes some bump shots to come soon!).

Congratulations to both girls, and especially to big girl Mia! I can't imagine how that's been to send her off on a full day at 4, and I'm sure the feelings are mixed, especially with your growing "bump."

We still go a 1/2 day for Raegan's Kindergarten, but we're the last district to do so around here, I think. Everyone else is full day. The uniforms are awesome--wish we had to do uniforms.

Love the photos...it feels like an adorable little storybook called "Chloe and Mia Go to School in London"
