I love/like

So I thought I should balance out my blog with some things that I love, or at least like a lot, about living in London.

- how they say "love" and "darling" (as in "sorry, love" and "what is it, darling?")
- walking the girls to and from school
- lots of walking in general
- the amazing education the girls are getting
- the expressions the Brits use, like -"chucking down rain", -"house so small you can't swing a cat in it" - "we're like chalk and cheese" (meaning so different) & a bunch of other ones that crack me up, but can't think of now
- my new George Forman (sp?) Grill
- my new senseo coffee maker
- the focus on teaching children manners
- the kid's shows "Charlie and Lola" and "Peppa Pig"
- how people dress decently, and not like a bunch of slobs
- being a short flight away from my relatives in Germany & France
- the gorgeous hydrangeas that flourish here - and all the different hues of pink, purple, and blue they come in
- (previously mentioned) exposure/access to yummy French, German, Indian and Chinese food.
- West Whittering (where Chloe's classmate's country house is that we've rented twice now)
- the world exposure my kids are getting as shown by how they will say, while they're playing "let's pretend we're in Africa (or India or Australia, etc) and we ...."

Interesting to read the love list and the things you miss. I think living elsewhere would be fascinating and lonely. I'm sure I would be full of mixed feelings about it.

(Although I have to disagree about Charlie and Lola - I am not a fan.)

I loved reading both of these posts... like the first comment I think living abroad would be full of things that I miss and things that I love (experienced that when I lived in Chile for 1 1/2 years) but would be much more pronounced as a wife and mother rather than a single person. I loved the sayings in Chile also--to describe people who were inseparable they say they are like "una y mugre" which means like a fingernail and the gunk that gets under it... kind of gross, but descriptive :). We also like "Charlie and Lola" and I think that so many of the things you love about London sound so charming! Thanks for sharing, darling. (I probably can't get away with that around here, can I?)
