Greetings from Sunny California!

Yes, that's why you haven't heard from me - was busy getting ready for our trip and then the girls and I left on Friday 25th of July for San Diego to see my parents, their dog and our Wookie! Happily survived the 12 hour direct flight and as rambunctious as Mia was, just kept thinking "TG I don't have a 2 year old!" Or any kid younger than four for that matter!

We've had a fabulous time with my parents - esp the girls. My dad retired from Charlotte Russe about a week before we got here so the timing couldn't have been any better. Lots of Omi and Opi time, outdoor time, and pool time for the girls. And I've been so so lucky to be able to get to sleep in in the morning as I send the kids off to find their grandparents. I'm finally updating the blog bc the girls are at Legoland with my parents as I type. I know they're having a blast, plus my pregnant self is so happy to skip the standing and waiting in lines for rides I can't even go on!

Last week we got to take a side trip to our Salt Lake City and it was so wonderful. I LOVED the heat (one day had a high of 103!) and I'm not kidding. Dry heat is so different than humid heat and it cools off with a fabulous breeze in the evening. However, it really was dry - Chloe and I both had a couple of bloody noses and Mia's eczema re-appeared on her arm. I chugged tons of water to counter the dryness and the altitude and all was well. We stayed one night each at Amy's, Stephanie's, and Anna's homes and although the trip was short, it was great to have some one on one time with each of them, along with seeing a few other friends (Deb, Liz). Plus, the girls and I had a 1.5 hour tour/meeting at the private school where we would like them to go next Fall 09. Yes, I'm planning ahead, but I know there is no chance I'll be able to get back there until next summer. And most luxurious of all, I got a pregnancy massage and body scrub at my beloved Kura Door (Japanese day spa). Only bad part was that meant I had to see our old house and that just made me feel a bit ill.

Connecting with my friends and seeing the kids connect with theirs brought me so much joy. It feels like we all just picked up right where we left off. Happy. Happy. They do call it happy valley, you know. And I didn't need any happy pills. My big apologies to those of you I didn't get to see. The trip was super short - doesn't mean I don't love you. Euge says I should have stayed longer, but I think longer would have made it really hard to leave.
So, now we are here in San Diego until Friday, when we leave for Charleston, SC and we get to see DADDY! It will have been two weeks by then. Longest ever. Then we get to enjoy a little over a week with Euge's family at our annual spot on the Isle of Palms. Looking so forward to that.

Wow...I am behind on my blog reading.

So glad your trip hope went/is going well. (103 is stinking hot - dry heat or not.)

Thank you for the wonderful box of surprises for the girls. It was so sweet of you to think of us while you were home for such a short time. I notice no address (other than your mom's) for a thank you card to be sent! You know that the thank you card gene was installed deeply in our family!
