I've learned that school houses and house points aren't just of Harry Potter fiction. There are four "houses" in Chloe's school and she is in the "Thomson" house. And I've learned that when Mia starts in the fall, she too will be a Thomson because you can't split up a family and have them cheering for different houses. So the school motivates the kids with the possibility of getting a house point for excellent work or a deed done - or best yet, eating your entire lunch (we pretty regularly get this one). When they get this point, they get a small gold Finton House (school) sticker with a one on it put on their jumper and they display them proudly. Chloe apparently wrote a great descriptive sentence the other day so she was even sent down to the Headmaster Mr. Adrian to get a house point sticker from him, which is about six times bigger than the regular house point sticker. She was so so proud.
Also get custom ones for great Maths, handwriting or spelling - Mia even gets those too in her Kindergarten. Coming home with an array of stickers on themselves, is definitely something they're proud of.
Unlike in Harry Potter, I've never heard of a house point being deducted - just the threat of need to see Mr. Adrian.
