How's this for Halloween Scary??

So the happy news to our family was that they do celebrate Halloween here. It's a fairy new phenomenon and the moms seem to think it's just because British kids would see it on US shows and want some of that fun too! The costumes are still the very traditional witch, devil, ghost, skeleton types. There were no Halloween decorations before the 31st, but on the night of, they abounded! Some streets are better than others and ours was one of the good ones. We had about 10 houses (of about 50) that had a pumpkin outside. Given the houses are so close together, it was easy trick or treating and it DIDN'T RAIN!!!
The trick or treaters were all very polite, took only one unless prompted to take a second, and always said thanks. And the biggest surprise of all was that they LOVED the little mini playdough (imported, leftover from last year's Utah Halloween) I gave out in addition to candy. Even the older (meaning 10 year olds!) kids.

Eugene and Mia carving the pumpkin we were lucky to get.
Doesn't he looked relaxed? He had taken the DAY OFF and it was such a lovely day for us as both girls were in school. We went out for coffee, lunch and just had a great day - seven (waking) hours on our own! I think we've only had that once or twice in the last 7.5 years.

Scary witches!

NOW FOR MORE SCARY...
I had promised the girls that they could turn my 38.5 week belly into a pumpkin! They had fun, even though I admit I was a little "done" with the project when they kept sticking prickly brushes on my belly button while doing the mouth. Euge took over. Not a sight you will forget for a while, no?

Oh and so envious of the hours alone with your hubby! I dream of such things...sadly I might choose a nap over a nice coffee and chat with him if given the opportunity right now.

I love your Jack-O-Belly. The girls look great. How about the election??? How was it to experience it over seas?

I love your pumpkin!!! It sounds like a lovely day, indeed. I am impressed that in the last little bit you came up with THREE costumes for your kids. That's great that the trick or treaters loved the playdough--we had erasers and pencils to go with our candy and the kids liked those too... but I love candy too much to do away with it entirely :).
