Mia's 5th Birthday
Bringing us to April 5th, Mia's 5th bday. Started in jammies, followed by presents, trip to the fun fair, cake in jammies again.

A note about UK fun fairs/carnivals. They are run by carnival families (maybe same in US but less obvious?) travelling all over the country and setting up shop for a few weeks at a time. Here they call them "pikeys" which is a pejoritive/slang term that you kind of whisper when you say it. Anyway, they are gypsies and if you listen closely, you can kind of understand them. They are a rough crowd. Anyway, what is interesting is that the two fun fairs I've been to here have had babies in the family. These babies are there, on the grounds from 2-midnight, hanging about in one booth or another or, as in this photo above, reading a trashing magazine in their pram. The pram that they're sitting in is what is so remarkable. It is a "Silver Cross" which is hand made and retails for about $1000-$1500!!!!
